Psychological Therapy
What is Psychological Therapy?
Clinical Psychologists are considered experts in providing psychological therapies.
They generally train within four primary theoretical orientations—psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive behavioural, and systems or family therapy.
Dr Devon uses many psychological therapies including, including CBT, Psychotherapy, Commitment and Acceptance therapy and Compassion Focused therapy. She is not tied to one model and draws upon a variety of psychological therapies and approaches depending on the particular needs of the person.
Psychological therapy focuses on providing a supportive, empathic relationship. It is a collaborative approach where the psychologist and the client work together in partnership to gain an understanding of the person's experiences and difficulties. A treatment plan is then agreed and the focus is to gain acceptance of yourself, and a resolution of the difficulties.
